Mission: Be a part of a close-knit team that provides food to individuals and families who are in need and reside in the 18104 zip code, supporting the JFS mission that no one in our community should suffer hunger. Our Organizer/Uploaders assist the staff in organizing the food in our Community Food Pantry, stocking shelves and unloading deliveries.
What To Expect:
- You will start your journey to becoming a Food Pantry Volunteer with a brief intake session with the JFS Volunteer Coordinator.
- On a typical day, you will begin your shift by checking in with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- You will assist with a variety of background tasks in the Food Pantry, including carrying boxes from the delivery truck to the storeroom and the storeroom to the pantry, shelving donated foods, breaking down empty boxes for recycling, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pantry area.
Please Note: This is a physical job for people who are comfortable lifting and moving boxes of up to 30 pounds.
Time Commitment: Shifts are available from Mondays through Thursdays with time flexibility
Training and volunteer expectations will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator when you are welcomed to the team!
