Henriette Engelson has been involved with volunteerism for many years, with many Jewish organizations. At her synagogue, Temple Beth El, she has served on both the main and Sisterhood board. She has volunteered to be a greeter at services, make phone calls and help in the kitchen. Additionally, she has served as the president of Friendship Circle for three terms, served on the JCC board, assisted JFS in teaching English to Russian immigrants and helps with the JCC’s Nearly New. Her other volunteering experience includes time spent at Lehigh Valley hospital and local nursing homes, as well as serving on the board of Hadassah Allentown, a housing board for the handicapped, and a board for autistic children. “It’s wonderful being honored,” Engelson said upon receiving the news. “That was part of my life. Whatever I could do to volunteer and help others.”
Mazel tov, Henriette, one of our 8ish Over 80 honorees.
